custom carriages & cannons

Tired of that old carriage?  Maybe it just can't handle the load any more.
We can supply custom built cannons or carriages.

There are many style carriages for both field and naval style barrels.
Firing cannons require a more robust carriage and wheels, made with harder woods and metal pieces.
Carriages are typically made from oak, mahogany, teak etc.  Decorative barrels have carriages made from softer woods.
Hardware may be brass, bronze, steel, cast iron / aluminum or stainless steel.  Average prices are shown below for typical Naval or Field carriages.

1780 Plans

February 2008

Based on the 1780 plans shown to the left, we replicated a nearly exact carriage (shown above) for a 62 inch cast iron barrel weighing 1200lbs.  The white oak carriage sides are 4 inches thick.  The front cast iron wheels are 10 inches in diameter, the rear ones 8 inches.  The wheels have full journal bearings.  The carriage alone, weighs 270 lbs.
It was finished with a custom stain to make it appear old.

For a size comparison, the carriage on the left is for our 36 inch bronze barrels.

Below are a few of the custom carriages we've shipped.
