We offer 12, 10, 8, 4 gauge blanks!
(the smaller the number the larger the gauge)

How loud are they?  10 gauge shells have more than 3 times the amount of powder in a standard hunting 12 gauge shot gun shell.  They produce a 121db noise level 25 feet and perpendicular from the muzzle.
They are very loud and produce a cloud of white smoke. A 12 gauge shell contains 6 Drams of black powder.  The 10 gauge blank shells contain 8 Drams of black powder (approximately 220 grains).  Our 8 Gauge blanks contain 12 Drams (approximately 328 grains) of ffg black powder.

* Yes, they are blanks - However, use caution! The wadding (made of condensed particles), located at the end of the shell, is propelled out of the barrel at nearly the speed of sound and travels several feet.
Insure no one is, or will be in front of the cannon when it is to be fired.

 >>>  Blanks are only sent via UPS ground.  They cannot be sent by UPS Air, which includes 3 Day select.

Cannon-Mania does not sell black powder nor primers.  See below.

8 Gauge blanks! ... a Cannon-Mania exclusive!!!
8 Gauge blanks are used in select, older Yacht cannons, and a few 8 gauge shotguns. These shells contain 12 Drams (328 grains) of ffg Black Powder.
There are two "models" for 8 gauge blanks.
One (standard size) is for antique salute cannons.
The second is referred to as the industrial size.  The casing has a extra step to prevent it from being inserted into a standard 8 gauge chamber (see picture to left).  Our cannon accepts both the industrial size and the standard size.

Pyrodex– Black powder substitute

Schuetzen Powder - From Germany

Black powder may be purchased at many gun shops. In some parts of the country it can be purchased in regular department stores.  Seek those that carry "Muzzle Loaders" supplies.  You are looking for a one pound can or plastic container of "fg or 1fg" Black powder.  2fg (ffg) can also be used, but in less quantity.   The higher the "fg" number, the smaller the powder particle sizes, hence the powder burns more quickly. Large cannons are fired using "Cannon" grade.  Finer powders, and those used in regular shotgun shells may cause a cannon barrel to explode.

Never use "smokeless powder" or powder from fireworks in cannons.

Pyrodex RS can also be substituted in a slightly less quantity, however the effect is not nearly as good as with real black powder.  Pyrodex, in loose form does not produce a "Boom" when used as a blank load in smaller cannons.  It will when placed in a foil pouch.

Read our "Black Powder" section (click here) for more detailed information.
